The May Fly is up on Lough Conn & Lough Cullen

Lough Conn and Cullen
The fishing on Loughs Cullen and Conn is free and we have access to boats & ghillies on both lakes.
On Lough Conn and Cullen no permission is required. Just arrive and fish for free for Brown Trout, Pike, Perch and Salmon. (You must have a Salmon State Licence if fishing for Salmon.)
Both lakes are world renowned for wild Salmon, Brown Trout, Pike and Perch Fishing.
Great Pike Fishing
There are two dedicated Pike lakes within 10 minutes of the Lodge, Levally Lake and Derryhick lake. Lough Conn and Lough Cullen are netted by the Fisheries Board for Pike and they are released into the two lakes.
Salt Water Sea Trout
We can also arrange Salt Water Fly Fishing for Sea Trout on the Moy Estuary, Ballina.
Picnic Baskets
Please do enquire at Reception about our Freshly Made Picnic Baskets. From Homecooked Ham Sandwiches to Plates of Smoked Salmon and Brown Bread every taste is catered for.
SALMON and SEA TROUT Regulations
A State Licence is required to fish for salmon and sea trout, but does not entitle you to fish. Permits or permission from fisheries owners must be obtained.
General salmon angling regulations
- All salmon (and sea trout over 40cm) kept must be tagged, and the logbook filled out accordingly.
- The salmon and sea trout season opens on January 1st in some fisheries. Most fisheries open at a later date (various dates up to the March 20th). Most fisheries close on September 30th with some exceptions which close on various dates between September 15th and October 12th.
- It is prohibited to keep or kill any sea trout in the Clew Bay area.
- It is prohibited to sell rod caught salmon or sea trout over 40cm between January 1st and October 31st
All Trout fishing is free. All Salmon Lake fishing is free except on Loughs Beltra, Furnace, Feeagh and Carrowmore. A State Licence is required to fish for Salmon.
On all rivers you require a State Licence to fish for Salmon, this can be arranged by the Hotel.
